Is Marcus Aurelius’ evening routine effective? Would I recommend it?

In this video I try out Marcus Aurelius’ evening routine – who was a Roman Emperor and a student of Stoicism. Aurelius is famous for his daily journal that was later turned into a book – Meditations.

Aurelius was a Roman Emperor from 161 to 180 AD. He is famous for recommending stillness in life and while there is much emphasis on winning the day, and having a proper morning routine.

He also emphasized the importance of finding stillness in the evenings, and retreating into oneself. Giving adequate time to unplug and reflect as well as prepare for the day ahead.

Thanks to his personal diary, we have a decent understanding of what his evening routine could have been.

Despite the fact that Aurelius wrote his meditations thousands of  years ago — his insights on Stoicism have stood the test of time.

Stoicism more and more is being seen as a powerful tool that can be used to harness your mind, and create a life that is balanced and filled with purpose.
